Stress keeps piling up,
I can’t stop it from building.
Every issue resolved,
Replaced by a new one, or it resurfaces.
A giant sea monster,
Circling a family on a long voyage.
A boat to them,
But to anyone else, an insignificant raft.
To the sea monster,
A tiny snack, tempting to eat.
But circles it, studies it,
As we drift further out to sea.
I must row, I must row.
Tend to the small that sustains,
And builds the big.
I must row.
The monster is too hungry,
And moves on to find a larger meal.
I must row, I must row,
Until we reach land.
