I walked through the kitchen and saw my teen daughter sitting inside her room. She was in front of her mirror dragging an eyeliner across an eyelid. She turned and said, “don’t ask” with an attitude.

I paused for a moment to examine the facial art. A silver shimmering streak down her nose. Solid, thick, black rings around her eyes. Topped with goopy lines of silver and white, extending an inch beyond her eye sockets.

“Didn’t plan on it.” I shrugged with a straight face and asked… “Is that a fake eyelash stuck to your cheek? It’s not moving when you blink.”

Laughing… she yelled, “MOM! I told you not to ask!”
