Trying to understand complex subjects… one failure at a time.

Over here we’ll be doing a detox from home Internet and technology. I also downgraded my cellphone to an old school style flip phone that doesn’t get emails or have apps on it.

I won’t turn the Internet back on until my kids learn how to function without it. We’re too dependent on technology, the Internet in particular. The pause  won’t impact homeschooling because we’ll be going to libraries on weekdays.

The technology detox will impact the amount I post and delay my other site’s design. But hopefully it will help with staying more focused. I’ll be recording videos and editing them with an offline program. Each of my kids will finish their hardest class of the year. The goal is to have these things completed in six to eight weeks. Sooner, if we all focus.

It may sound drastic but I’m saving $90 a month on the phone alone. Without the Internet too, I’m saving about $160. That’s a good sized EXTRA payment towards my credit card debt. I’ve also made other SMALL adjustments to my household finances to increase my credit card payments.

I started by paying off my largest credit card, which is now nearly complete. I did cheat a little though. I took out a small loan with lower interest and a smaller monthly payment.

Next, I’ll be tackling the smallest credit card and work my way up to the second largest. Also, I locked my cards and only carry one with me for emergencies. This is to prevent spending and theft. I’ll never get ahead by staying behind. So… I’m making adjustments.

Nearly everything in life is based on credit worthiness. So… it’s time for me to get in shape.
