Split pea soup it is…

Home cooking, whole foods is healthy and not difficult. Cut them up, put them into a heat safe container, add liquid, add heat. Let cook. Then eat!
Recipe
Dry split peas
Cover in a broth 4:1 (add four times as much broth as split peas)
Diced vegetables (onion, garlic, carrots, celery, potato)
Optional: cubed meat (usually ham or bacon)
Season with pepper
Cook until everything is soft.
Split peas have protein and fiber. Plus they have a long-stable shelf life. If you’re on a tight budget, buy in bulk. Keep ’em dry. They’ll last a while.
