Perfectly Human

Trying to understand complex subjects… one failure at a time.

The free-form reflective poem titled, “Biases” was written in January 2025 and shared in a writing club. It needs to be revised, the flow is chunky and an incorrect word ruins a line. The poem’s theme is perception and is part of an ongoing collection.

Truth is… each of us is an asshole,

Opinionated, biased– based on our own perception.

Life obstacles harden our skin or shatter the soul,

Either way, the experience wires self-deception.

The kindest person you meet could be a murderer,

The rudest, a doctor volunteer saving indigenous tribes.

To the murderer you’re a sucker.

To the Doctor, you need mental meds prescribed.

Polarization occurring across the planet,

In reality, we can’t perceive the other side’s view.

Biases obstruct clear thinking, the cure–

Persephone’s pomegranate.

Few realize the pain and truths in everyone’s venomous brew.

Yet cannot see, nor understand why they believe.

Confusion and chaos invade the senses, all left deceived.

The World plunges into the underworld, stripped of what’s precious.

Unaware of what’s occurring, biases scream “evil nemesis.”
