Trying to understand complex subjects… one failure at a time.

Poem 111

Written by

The poem is a reflection about how self-perception is warped by the opinion of others. Even long after someone has exited the scene, sometimes they leave behind seeds of self-deceit. The poem is unfinished because it is unedited and free form.

Lies we tell ourselves,

From…

Perception-based biases.

Self-righteous venom spewed,

Projected…

In our direction.

Messages received,

Internalized… now fiery self-deceit.

Lingering whispers, taunt,

Haunt…

Charred barriers of understanding

prevail.

Violent screams in silence,

Tear apart self-worth.

Careless words and actions

Hurt…

Leaving ever-bleeding scars,

And questions of

Worthless appraisal.

Value based on faulty minds

And fallacies…

Fracture emotional intelligence.
