Perfectly Human

Trying to understand complex subjects… one failure at a time.

Poem 612

Written by

The rough, free-form poem was inspired from a fortune cookie in August 2024. The poem has gone through a few revisions and edits. Those will be posted and linked at another time. The themes are procrastination and listlessness.

What hasn’t been done

Is a heavy burden.

One carried around

Every moment.

Every day,

It builds.

What was

Something small

Put off,

Accumulates… and builds

A mountain

Frozen in

The deepest winter.

Inescapable.

The only option,

Wait it out.

Take shelter and

Tend to what needs

To be done.

The agonizing thaw will

Eventually arrive,

Revealing the path

To somewhere

Better than

Frozen slumber.

Anything is better

Than what was,

As long as

What is and was

Don’t remain the same.

One foot in front of

The other

New horizons await.
